Procedures for IVIS Animal Transport and Use

"Laboratory animals in the LAC"
- The animals in the 2F and 3F SPF area must submit an application form for taking out animals 3 days before, in order that the staff can prepare the sterile PC cage.
- Animals in the 1F quarantine room must also submit an application form for taking animals out.
- If the laboratory animals are sacrificed, please place them in the freezer near the 3F conventional area.
- According to the round-trip route for transporting the animals to and from the IVIS .
"Laboratory animals NOT in the LAC"
- The animal cage should be placed on the 1F left side trolley of the side door.
- Enter through the front door, wear blue slippers, and then go to the 1F left side door to get the animal cage.
- Disinfect your hands and cages with 75 % alcohol.
- Take the elevator or the side stairs to the 2F IVIS room.
- Take it out from the IVIS room, follow the above steps 4→3→2→1.

Route for Transporting Animals To and From the IVIS
I. 2F Holding room → IVIS → Quarantine Room
Animals are placed in their original IVC cages
(If only part of the animals are transported, a PC cage is used.)
↓
Place the cages on the 2F external cart at the exit.
↓
Transport to the IVIS .
↓
After the experiment, use the 2F external cart and take the 2F left-side elevator to the 1F quarantine room.
↓
Disinfect cages and the 2F external cart with 75% alcohol spray in the 1F quarantine anteroom.
↓
Transfer cages through the pass box using the 1F internal cart to the quarantine IVC rack.
↓
Return the 2F external cart to its original location on 2F.
(If only part of the animals are transported, a PC cage is used.)
↓
Place the cages on the 2F external cart at the exit.
↓
Transport to the IVIS .
↓
After the experiment, use the 2F external cart and take the 2F left-side elevator to the 1F quarantine room.
↓
Disinfect cages and the 2F external cart with 75% alcohol spray in the 1F quarantine anteroom.
↓
Transfer cages through the pass box using the 1F internal cart to the quarantine IVC rack.
↓
Return the 2F external cart to its original location on 2F.
II. Quarantine Room → IVIS → Quarantine Room
Animals are placed in their original IVC cages.
(If only part of the animals are transported, a transport cage is used.)
↓
Transfer through the pass box and place on the 1F external cart.
↓
Take the left-side elevator to the 2F IVIS .
↓
After the experiment, return using the 1F external cart via the left-side elevator to the 1F quarantine anteroom.
↓
In the 1F quarantine anteroom, disinfect the cages and the cart with 75% alcohol spray.
↓
Transport through the pass box using the 1F internal cart to the quarantine IVC rack.
(If only part of the animals are transported, a transport cage is used.)
↓
Transfer through the pass box and place on the 1F external cart.
↓
Take the left-side elevator to the 2F IVIS .
↓
After the experiment, return using the 1F external cart via the left-side elevator to the 1F quarantine anteroom.
↓
In the 1F quarantine anteroom, disinfect the cages and the cart with 75% alcohol spray.
↓
Transport through the pass box using the 1F internal cart to the quarantine IVC rack.
